About
Hello,
My name is Joseph Schrader. I'm currently a senior at NC State University. I'm majoring in IT with a concentration in Business Analytics, and hopefully will be joining the 2021-22 cohort of the Institute for Advanced Analytics. I'm also a member of the varsity men's tennis team, ranked 6th in the country in our last season.
I'm a self-taught coder. I started with Python in my junior year of high school and later picked up R, SQL, and SAS. I graduated from the SAS Academy for Data Science this spring. My passion is the intersection of data and performance, especially in sports and finance. I currently run a blog about using big data to investigate trends throughout the tennis world and use my data and financial knowledge to operate my own small business.
My specialties include neural networks and machine learning, although I'm proficient in other areas. I've gained valuable experience with text parsing and text analytics during my current project by web scraping tennis match data via automated python code.
Outside of my professional life, I am interested in how recycling and up-cycling used clothing can make a difference in the environmental impact of the fashion industry. I run a small social media community with a dedicated group of followers, and I have even been quoted in the Wall Street Journal.
